Sometimes you need to change multiple product attributes and it's a pain to have to open each product view and find the attribute and change it.
For example: Changing globally the New From and New To dates for multiple products.
How do you do this?
Well, you just open your Catalog / Manage Products grid and select the products (with the check box) and then use the 'Action' dropdown menu to select 'Update Attribute'
Once you select the 'Submit' button you'll be taken to a new screen. Scroll down the screen until you see the attribute you want to globally change for the products you selected, in this case the New From / New To Date, and check the 'Change' box to make the Date Fields editable and enter the new date range. Once that has been done, just click on the 'Save' button in the upper right.
And that's it! You just globally changed the attributes for all the selected products in just a few seconds. So you can see how this will save you a lot time.
Other uses are globally changing:
Status, Visibility, Date Purchased, Location Status, etc.
