** IMPORTANT! ** Never manually change the status of a running auction to FINISHED as this will start script in the code that closes all the lots and calculates premiums among other auction closing routines. This CANNOT be undone. So it is equally important that you do not put random ending dates for your lots or date of the actual auction that will expire prior to you publishing and running an auction. Just use a date far in the future if you are uncertain when you will run said auction.
NOTE: All Timed Auctions will close automatically WITHOUT any intervention from the admin user, so never change the status manually.
When building your auction you'll want to hide the upcoming information block until you have your information content and opening/starting dates confirmed and added in the admin. We have custom statuses to view or hide that information, as follows:
1. Default status is set to IN PROGRESS, so make sure to set this to HIDDEN on save to prevent this block from displaying on the frontend (via API) and you can do this by clicking on the ACTION button to open the edit screen and change the status (do not forget to SAVE before exiting that screen.) Or you can use the active status button itself by clicking on it and selecting the status you want from the dropdown list. No need to save with this method as it is auto-save JS activated.
PLEASE NOTE: You can click on any image below for a larger, easier to read view.
STATUS directly button method shown here:
2. Additionally, you can change the status right from the Auction list Actions grid itself by doing the following:
This procedure effectively manages your frontend display of upcoming auctions as seen below:
So this is a PUBLISHED upcoming auction (above image)
And once an auction has completed it will automatically move this block to the PAST auctions list and the STATUS changes to FINISHED.
