Some of our clients have Custom Stock Statuses for their inventory stock status and work as follows:
If Product Qty is > = to 1 then the product displays 'In Stock' (unless you do not show stock statuses on your website or are running Magento in 'Catalog' mode without inventory management)
If Product Qty is < = to 0 (zero) then the product stock status is 'On Hold' or 'Sale Pending' (depending on your custom setup statuses)
In order to change the Stock Status from 'On Hold' or 'Sale Pending' a custom attribute is used (Location Status) to perform the additional logic to change the Stock Status to 'SOLD'. This is used for maintaining an Archive for your sold items and uses the 'Location Status' custom attribute to switch when set to 'SOLD'. This function is performed automatically when you Archive an Order using the Archive Coin(s) or Archive Item(s) button in the Order View (you need to open the order to see the buttons in the upper right corner).
This button is only displayed if the Order's Status is Invoiced or Complete. The button is not visible for the Order Status of NEW ORDER.
